Foundation Stone Centenary at Tarrington Lutheran Church

Sunday July 19th was a wonderful celebration of 100 years since the laying of the foundation stone at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Tarrington. About 220 people came along to the worship service, which was led by current Pastor Joshua Pfeiffer, with the Victorian District Bishop Lester Priebbenow as the guest preacher. Many previous members and their family members, along with neighboring church members came along to celebrate the day.  Praise be to God!

Following the service, there was a shared luncheon in the hall.  In true Lutheran style, there was plenty of food to go around!

St. Michael’s Historian, Betty, along with the members of the working group, assembled historical displays, including the contents of the time capsule which was laid 100 years ago.  Contents included various Lutheran Church documents, educational materials being used in the school, and secular items including ‘The Spectator’ of 17th July 1926.

A video of the opening of the time capsule was shown. There was also a presentation of the many slides/photos showing life in 1926.  There are still many ongoing family connections with those who were in the photos.

The congregation looks forward to celebrating 100 years since the opening of the church building, in March 2028.
