Biggest Morning Tea 2026 at Our Saviour’s Knox
With a theme of ‘Music for the heart and Soul’, we began our annual Cancer Council fundraising morning tea with a time of prayer and reflection for all those touched by cancer. Pastor Peter Ghalayini beautifully addressed us by highlighting the place of music in the Bible and its importance not only for rejoicing but in times of overwhelming sadness. Many of the 55 people in attendance then lit a candle for someone in their lives who have been affected by cancer – we remembered those no longer with us and those currently undergoing treatment, together with all the carers who walk the journey with them. We were grateful that Jenny Dawson was able to lead us in song during this reflection time.
An enjoyable morning tea followed with delicious food and much lively conversation. Money was raised through a raffle (with extensive prizes) and several guessing competitions. Jenny Dawson provided a challenging music quiz for us to test our ability to ‘name the song and composer’, keeping our minds very focused and attentive!
Altogether our Biggest Morning Tea event ended up raising a wonderful $1,560 for the Cancer Council. Thank you to our community volunteers who came and served the morning tea, to Pastor Peter and Jenny Dawson for their wonderful participation and leadership during the morning and to Keira Scott helping with audio tasks. Special thanks to Joanne Anderson, Joanne Lester, Orla Francis and Judy Kimberley for their support and help in gathering donations and to all the businesses who so generously donated prizes for the morning. A BIG thank you to all who attended and helped to make the morning a wonderful success.
