Neighbours and our This N That Op Shop

40 years and 9 months of the television show ‘Neighbours’ came to an end on Thursday 11th December.

But what is the relevance?

Channel 0/10 Studios were on Springvale Road Forest Hill. Opposite is Vermont South, the same suburb our Bishop lives in (aka Erinsborough). Location shots were filmed at nearby Pin Oak Crescent.

When production finished a couple of months ago, our This N That Community Store was one of a few local Op Shops to benefit from deliveries of Neighbours props and memorabilia. The media went crazy for three days, with interviews and linkages to actors, experts, etc.

As Thursday 11th December was the (first) airing of the last episode on TV, we opened the eBay auction of items at 8pm the night before. Early items soon soared well above initial price – typically $5, $20, or $50 (for one of Dr Karl’s bags).

So just like good neighbours, we can be glad, become good friends and raise some funds for the Op Shop.
