Gospel Fluency Workshop, Wodonga
32 folks from Wodonga and Riverina congregations gathered on Saturday 8 February for a “Gospel Fluency Workshop” led by the LCA’s Pr. Nathan Hedt, with support from Pr. Brett Kennett and Erin Grainger from District Office. Participants reported back that they appreciated the interactive, hope filled and engaging nature of the workshop.
Gospel Fluency workshops deliver practical tools for sharing the gospel in a post-Christian context. The workshop begins with a “Dwelling in the Word” exercise, where attendees reflected on 1 Peter 3:13–18, emphasizing the importance of being prepared to share the hope they have with gentleness and respect.
Participants then explore the concept of fluency through a language-learning analogy, reinforcing that gospel fluency requires practice and avoiding jargon.
The session emphasised prayer as a foundation for evangelism – it’s essential to ‘talk to God about people, before talking with people about God!’ Prepared to be surprised at what God will do!
Cultural awareness in a secular society, and the use of simple, reproducible tools like the “411” method for structuring gospel conversations were also shared.
Attendees practiced sharing their personal testimonies in a concise format, and explored ways to engage in spiritual conversations naturally.
The workshop concluded with goal-setting for ongoing practice and prayer, ensuring participants left equipped to integrate gospel fluency into their daily lives.
