Chinese Calligraphy Class at St Paul’s Box Hill
Last week the St Paul’s community were blessed by members of our partner congregation, the Chinese Lutheran Church (CLC), running a Chinese Calligraphy class in the café. Carmen from the Chinese Lutheran Church came up with this fantastic idea to support Senior’s month when she saw St Paul’s members sharing a fortnightly lunch. Husband and wife, Stephen and Eva, ran the event with Stephen teaching the class, ably assisted by Tim, another CLC member.
It was heartwarming to hear the effort that was put into this event. English is not the first language for those who attended from CLC but with the help of Google Stephen was able to teach both English and Chinese speakers.
About 10 people attended including several from St Paul’s. While the class was running, three people from both congregations were busy in the kitchen preparing a noodle lunch which was a great change from our usual baked potatoes.
This was a great morning of getting to know one another and learning a new skill at the same time.
