Pastor for Service and Witness
Pastor Gordon Wegener

Pastor Gordon Wegener is the District Hospital Chaplain to the inner city hospitals of Melbourne. After many years of parish ministry, he enjoys the privilege of pastoral care to Lutherans who come to the city hospitals, usually in need of critical care. Sometimes their stay may be short, while for others it is a slow and complex return to health, where their lives are forever changed.

Other Areas of Pastoral Care: In his position of Pastor for Service and Witness, Pastor Wegener facilitates pastoral care in other ministry contexts of the District. He is responsible for the pastoral care of the District's Aged Care facilties, Eventide Lutheran Homes in Hamilton and Sunnyside Lutheran Retirement Village in Horsham. He also oversees the service provided through Lutheran Women of Victoria, Lutheran Men of Victoria, and This N That Community Store.

Education: Pastor Wegener is also available to provide courses on pastoral care for congregations. Through the District's Lutheran School of Theology, units have been created covering such areas as: Listening, Story and Narrative, Theology of Suffering, Grief and Loss, Ethics in Pastoral Care, Pastoral Care of Families, Pastoral Care of the Aged, and Pastoral Care of those with Mental Illness. Please contact him to arrange workshops in any of these areas.

Ecumenical: Pastor Wegener serves as the District representative on the Victorian Council of Churches.
