Child, Youth, Tertiary and Family
Pastor for Child, Youth, Tertiary and Family Ministry
Pastor Andrew Brook
Pastor Andrew Brook works with congregations and young people to support the forming of a vital and mature Christian faith. His role has three main components.
The first is consulting with congregations in their ministry to children, young people and families. Pastor Andrew will assist congregations with particular emphasis on the Child in our Hands approach to teaching and handing on the faith, and the growing of Christian disciples.
The second is to oversee the work of Lutheran Youth of Victoria (LYV), and enable them to support young people’s faith journeys, especially through camping ministry and advocacy for young people. His aim is to nurture young people who serve God and the world through their chosen vocations.
The third is serving as Pastor for Tertiary Students, providing pastoral care to the Lutheran Students and Friends (LSF) community and leading them in worship at St. John’s Southgate on Sunday evenings at 7:00pm. Together with the Coordinator for Tertiary Ministry, Judy Bowman, he supports LSF campus groups and their partner congregations across the district. He also spends two days a week as a chaplain to the University of Melbourne.
Coordinator for Tertiary Ministry
Judy Bowman
Judy Bowman works as the Coordinator for Tertiary Ministry. Her role involves providing Pastoral Care and support to all tertiary students in Victoria. This is achieved in the first instance, through an on-campus Chaplaincy presence at Monash and Melbourne Universities. Secondly, the role involves a specific focus on visiting and connecting with Lutheran tertiary students at other campuses and working with Lutheran Students and Friends (LSF) Victoria.
